Want a Green Lawn?

Our outdoor living spaces create more than just market value for our homes, and the grass that is in front, beside, or behind your house helps more than we’d think it would. Unfortunately, because of the climate in which we live, having a healthy, lush lawn throughout the summer is hard to achieve. We can help you achieve that through a variety of services.

Healthy grass requires more than just fertilizer.  Lawn care is a science.  It involves nutrients, water, and proper cultural practices.  Our certified arborist will help you customize a care and fertilization program for you based on your desires.  This requires a cooperative effort.  Proper fertilization, insect control, core aeration, seeding, and a diagnosis from us and proper watering and mowing from you will give you a beautiful lawn to enjoy.

A healthy lawn helps keep the area around your house cooler because it absorbs some of the heat from the sun; in fact, it can have the cooling effect of up to 9 tons of air conditioning.  It also becomes a wonderful thing to enjoy with family and friends as it feels cool and soft beneath your feet.  It only takes one as large as 2500 square feet to create enough oxygen for a family of four.  Healthy grass also provides many of the same benefits that healthy trees do.

Furthermore, a lush, green lawn is better able to fight off the numerous fungi that can lie dormant until the conditions are right and then suddenly strike without warning.  It will also help keep unsightly weeds from popping up since the thick, healthy roots of the grass will win the competition for soil space and prevent the weeds from growing.

Here are some basic care tips to help you maintain a lush, green, healthy lawn:

  1. Mow as high as your mower allows, at least 3 inches off the soil line.  Keep your mower blade sharp all season.  Taller grass blades create a thicker root system.
  2. Deeply water your grass once a week.  The rule of 1 in. of water per week is recommended.
  3. You should only need to fertilize a maximum of 4 times over the season.
  4. If your lawn develops brown spots, bring some samples to your local arborist or cooperative extension office for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Hiring a qualified and experienced lawn care provider is crucial to helping you enjoy your outdoor living space.
